Tom Robson wins the Year 12 OBU Scholarship for 2015
The Old Boys’ Union Scholarship is awarded to recognise a boy’s contribution to the life of the School. It acknowledges a positive attitude to scholastic endeavours; constructive relationships with peers and staff; involvement in leadership activities; and eager participation in co-curricular activities and in games. Recipients of the scholarship need not excel in any or all of the above. The scholarship seeks to acknowledge the boy’s support of the School and its aims, and his effort, contribution and involvement, having regard to the applicant’s ability and potential. The value of the scholarship is $9,000 in total to be utilised by the scholarship recipient over a three year period up to the 31st December of the third year following his final year of school. The scholarship is made directly to the boy. A shortlist of candidates is interviewed by current Committee members towards the end of Term 3.
The standard of candidates, the breadth of their engagement with the school is exceptional and the interviewing panel had difficulty in making a final decision amongst a very tight field.
Congratulations must go to Sam Allan, Ollie Holder, Tom Hicks and Fergus Bragg for making the short list of five and to Tom Robson who took out this most prestigious OBU prize.
The President of the OBU Angus Kench (83) presented the Scholarship to Tom at the very last Assembly for Year 12 on Thursday 17 September 2015.
